Postdoctoral positions are available to explore mechanisms of biological innovation during evolution. Studies will employ state-of-the-art “active genetic” tools based on CRISPR gene-drive systems that we have developed to replace large genome segments of several loci in one species with those of another. These studies are expected to identify genomic intervals necessary for transforming morphological structures between both closely related and distantly related species. Applicants should have a solid basis in molecular biology and genetics. Familiarity with CRISPR and Drosophila is advantageous but not required.
